Storage
It is recommended that chocolate bars are eaten within 3 to 6 months after production. However, although they will not be as perfect as if consumed within 6 months, dark chocolate bars can be kept for two years or more if stored properly: well wrapped in foil in a cool, dark, dry place. Milk and white chocolate have a more limited storage time, but will stay fresh for a year or more under good conditions.
Filled chocolates, chocolates with nuts and other additives (including bars) have a shorter shelf life because the additives will break down or go rancid. A box of fine filled chocolates or truffles should be eaten within 2 weeks, although the sooner the better.
