Cru
A term used to indicate single varietals of cacao plants and/or areas that have specific plants. The names of the crus generally reflect countries and provinces where the cacao is grown: for example, Manjari (Madagascar), Caraibe (Caribbean), Valrhona's Guanaja (an island off Honduras) and Jivara (South America). In some cases, producers have invented cru names, analogous to brand names. Examples of these include are Domori's Puertomar, Puertofino and Apurimac.
